Newspapers Weigh Revenue, Relevance

The newspaper business needs to speed up digital engagement and monetization, says Wan-Ifra, the industry’s own trade association, after unveiling its annual industry audit – World Press Trends – earlier this year.

Even though 800 million people now read newspapers online, these visits account for little more than 1% of time spent on digital platforms, Wan-Ifra noted.

At the same time, newspaper business models are still heavily skewed to print.

We highlight key revenue trends, for Asia-Pacific and worldwide, from this year’s World Press Trends report.
